How to read an XML invoice

  1. Upload your CII or UBL XML invoice, up to 10 MB, or try one of the samples.

  2. Press Show as PDF. The PDF is made in the language of the page: change it with the language buttons at the top.

  3. Read the invoice, print it or save the PDF.

What to expect

The PDF shows the fields of EN 16931: the parties, the references, the lines, the VAT breakdown, the totals and the payment. The words are in the language of the page; the values stay as they are in the invoice. Supporting documents are listed, not included. The extra fields of the EXTENDED-CTC-FR profile and the removal of the watermark are premium features, coming soon. The PDF is a reading copy made from the data of the invoice, not the original invoice: every page says so, and carries a CTC Engine watermark. Text in Latin, Greek and Cyrillic letters is shown; characters of other scripts (Arabic, Hebrew, Chinese, Japanese) appear as #.

Frequently asked questions

Is it free? Do I need an account?

Yes, it is free, and you do not need an account.

What happens to my invoice?

Your file is read to make the PDF. The PDF stays available on our server for about thirty seconds, only so that your browser can fetch it, then it is discarded. Nothing is kept after that, and your invoice is not used for anything else or shared with anyone.

Is the PDF the invoice?

No. The XML file is the invoice. The PDF is a reading copy made from its data: it carries a watermark and says on every page that it is not the original invoice.

Which files can I open?

CII D22B and UBL 2.1 XML invoices and credit notes: EN 16931, Peppol BIS, XRechnung, and the XML of a ZUGFeRD or Factur-X invoice. A PDF cannot be opened here: take the XML out of it first, as the guide on reading XML invoices explains.

Which language is the PDF in?

The language of the page: English, French or German. Use the language buttons at the top of the page to change it. The labels and the formats of numbers and dates follow it; the values stay as they are written in the invoice.

Why do some characters show as #?

The PDF has fonts for Latin, Greek and Cyrillic letters, which covers the languages of Europe. Characters of other scripts, such as Arabic, Hebrew, Chinese or Japanese, are not supported yet and appear as #. The invoice itself is not changed: its XML still has the original text.
